Good Morning America Keeps Small Business Booming In America

It's been a busy month for a small Pass Christian business after being in the national spotlight. On October 27, Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts raved about the Pass Christian Soap Company.
For two days, thousands of orders came in. Employees have been working practically day and night to fill all those orders.
At the Pass Christian Soap Company's factory on Davis Avenue, the production line cranks up at 8:00 a.m. and doesn't stop until the wee hours of the morning.
"It's been absolutely insane to be honest," said owner Paula Lindsay. "There will be people in town that pass by and they say: 'We actually see you working all night. Do you ever go home?' The answer is no."
Lindsay said her business received more than 4,000 orders, just from Good Morning America viewers. She had to hire 13 additional employees to keep up with the rush.
"It has grown our business so much," said Lindsay. "We now have 4,000 customers we can market to at any given time. We're already getting repeat orders and we're trying to get all the orders out for Christmas."
Lindsay said all the GMA orders for soap bars, body creams and bath bombs should be packaged and shipped by the end of the month. She said customers understand the delay because her products are handmade.
"We have orders coming in daily. Just when we think we've finished, it's time to start again. So we're fortunate," said Lindsay.
The company also makes soy candles. But because they've run out of room in the small factory, Lindsay has rented a building just down the street to make the candles for the next couple of months.
"We've reached another plateau and there's no way to go but up," Lindsay said. "So I feel real confidant that it's going to grow even further."
And she owes it all to Pass Christian's own Robin Roberts, who gave the 12-year old business a priceless plug.
"One hundred percent, I mean, she has really been a big supporter to us. She has helped promote us," said Lindsay. "I'm excited to be a small business in this economy and have this kind of exposure."
Lindsay made about $200,000 in sales during the two-day GMA special. That's almost half of what she makes the entire year.
By the way, the company's retail store on Davis Avenue is also outgrowing its space. It's moving to a bigger building on Davis, just in time for Black Friday.
